The SUPER Full Moon Ride!

Yes, cycling fans and those of you that love to ride...it is finally here!

2011's first Full Moon Ride!!!
And guess what?! Because of the Lunar Cycle, (uh, has nothing to do with bicycles), we will experience the first SUPER Full Moon since 1992!!! According to reports, the moon will actually be almost 10% larger than a normal full moon. This gives the visual effect of a brighter and bigger full moon. Come on somebody! Come on everybody!!!

This will be an experience you won't want to miss or soon forget!

Meet at the Casino Beach Parking Lot at 7pm. We will ride an easy pace to Fort Pickens as the sun is setting. We stop at the docks for snacks and conversation before heading back to Casino Beach under the Super Full Moon over the Gulf.

I can't wait!!! Bring your family, friends and any other cyclists you can think to invite...and your cameras as this will be an experience you won't want them to miss! (The uh, lovely Mrs Graves will be at the Casino Beach Pavilion taking pictures with some of our family as well.) This will be a ride you won't soon forget! And great fun too!

Weather forecast is for clear skies and a light breeze out of the southeast. Perfect!

A COUPLE OF NOTES:
Please bring a couple extra dollars to get in the gate at Fort Pickens.
Don't forget your lights
as it will be dark of course, and any snacks or beverages. (Rumor has it that Left Lane is bringing a 12 pack of his particular favorite adult beverage. Others may as well.)

See everyone tomorrow evening! And as always, I'll...

See you out on the road,
Bob

  1. Hello, I met some of you on Saturday in Lillian. I was riding for the first time with the Freewheelers group. I wanted to do your Super Full Moon Ride last nite, but my schedule did not permit. I will probably try one of your Sunday easy rides soon since I believe I can sustain 16mph for a short ride. I’m curious about your Tues/Thurs rides... On calendar this past week, the entries list as easy-moderate, but this week and forward list as moderate. Unless I hear otherwise, I’ll assume that moderate is correct, and I can’t keep up, so stick with Sundays. Also, just want to be sure that I won’t be the only slower rider and/or woman there? And does it get dark before you finish? Please advise. Thanks so much! It was nice to see y’all out there the other day!!

  2. Hey Stacy,

Great to hear from you! Yes, I remember meeting you in Lillian this past Saturday. Beautiful day for a ride! Sorry you couldn't make the Full Moon ride...we had several ladies and a couple of kiddos along. It was great fun and that full moon was absolutely beautiful. Maybe next time?!

In regards to your concerns about pace, etc. Sunday's are the best day for someone who may be feeling a little unsure as to whether they can keep up with the group. Sometimes we have a couple of the gals and sometimes it is just the guys. Regardless, we will never drop you or leave you behind on a Sunday ride. The pace is usually mid teens with some sections a bit slower and some a bit faster.

Tuesday and Thursday evenings are a slightly faster. However, we won't drop you on these rides either. Only on our Wednesday Hammerfest ride can you be dropped. That's because it is a fast ride and pretty much in close to the neighborhoods where we all live so everybody can find their way home if needed.

I haven't seen any of the ladies out on a Tues/Thurs ride yet this year. We do finish all rides, with the exception of our monthly Full Moon ride, before it gets dark.

I hope to see you real soon.
    Bob
