Come on out and enjoy the fantastic weather! We have two really great rides scheduled for this weekend. Saturday, we will be meeting at Fish and Wildlife at 7am for the group fave Around the Sound Loop! This 65 miler (plus/minus) will have two scheduled rest stops and will return on the beach road. Keep one eye on the wind factor, if it moves around to the southwest we may change the route to Lillian Loop or Innerarity Point. Stay tuned for updates as needed.
Sunday will see most of the Firestone and Summit peloton meeting at Springhill Road and Christmas Tree Road in Blackwater for a trial run of the road race course for the Pensacola Cycling Classic. This race will be run next weekend, (September 17-18) with a time trial on the beach and a crit downtown. If you haven't registered yet, here's the address: www.pensacolacyclingclassic.com
If you are interested in riding the course this Sunday, meet Left Lane and others at 8am there!
Only one week left, get your training in now!!!
See everyone Saturday morning at 7am at Fish and Wildlife! And, as always...
See you out on the road,
Bob

I went out to the beach last night and rode (in my car)around half way to Navarre. The road is open and has been cleared for the most part. Still seems to be quite a bit of sand on the bike lane and in some places there are accumulations of sand in the middle of the road but it is rideable.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the Sunday ride, I was planning on everyone getting out around 8:00 AM and getting their bikes set up etc., and doing a little warm up and then starting the ride at 8:30. This will be a good warm up for the PCC road race especially for those who missed the ride out in the blackwater a couple of weeks ago. Course is around 25 miles and we can decide after we run the course if anyone wants to do another lap or another shorter loop out in the Blackwater. For those of us riding Saturday the 1 loop of the road course may be enough.
