Tonight is our first Full Moon Ride of the 2012 riding season! And looks like the weather is going to be perfect! Clear skies with a breeze out of the northeast. Come on somebody...come on everybody!
And...then on Saturday morning we have the Cast Of Unusual Characters heading out on the Lillian Loop. (May have to change the route as the wind is forecast out of the east.) Regardless, we'll get in a fantastic ride with temps in the low 70s and low humidity. It doesn't get much better than that!
My apologies for no TERAD commentary this week. The Blogifier was out riding up mountains in the southwest as part of his Double Secret Training Regiment. (Guess it's not secret now.) In fact, he set a record up a 9 kilometer climb outside of Phoenix. It's absolutely true! Locals said, "I've never seen that climb take so long! That dude set a record!" In his defense, the Blogifier retorted, "Hey man, I passed a couple guys! Yeah, so what if they were walking, they took longer than me to get to the top!" So, it appears he had his hands full and the usual "pinch hit writers" didn't send in their reports...other than to say that Eddie "Lounge Chair" Fisher was rompin' and stompin' on his recumbant! I don't even know who won the sprint...was there a sprint?
We'll take good notes this weekend though! And you can get all the details on the latest antics from the Firestone and Summit peloton right here on the Blogazoidal next week. See you at 7am tomorrow morning at Fish and Wildlife and don't forget tonight at 6:30pm at Casino Beach Parking Lot for the Full Moon Ride! Please bring your lights and an extra $3 to get in the National Park.
Wow, what a weekend for riding! Can't wait to be back in the COUCs saddle again! See you then and as always, I'll...
See you out on the (mountain) road,
Bob
Murphy won the sprint by a wheel with me (3P) attempting a last second attempt to overtake him. Retro was close behind until I came unclipped right in front of him as I hammered down to overtake Keith. That threw off Retro's mojo causing him to let off the throttle. Despite how it looked coming unclipped was not a diversionary tactic!

ReplyDeleteAwards of Merit for the evening need to go out to Crusher and the Lawman. They attempted a extended break on Maygarden that kept the field at bay until the final kilometer. Crusher was cooked and Lawman kept trying. The Big Motor pulled the wheelsuckers to within striking distance of Lawman. At that point Big Motor pulled off and 3P closed on the Lawman with myself and Retro in tow. At 500 meters 3P stood up to put the power down and that's when things broke loose. They truly broke loose as 3P unclipped and executed a perfect arabesque before get to the business at hand. Amazed by such perfection there was a momentary lull. After we discussing such style and grace we got back to the business at hand. The only problem is that 400+ meters is too long a distance to drag my big old self. 3P gave a valiant chase and was closing at the line. He let loose with a primal yell that while unnerving did not garner him the win. I feel that my days are numbered.
ReplyDeleteI just love this kind of stuff! (Except for the pedal problem thing...been there, done that, got the scars to show for it.) Somebody get 3P a proper road bike. The boy's got potential!
